2 The name Μαιόνιος is identical with the ethnic belonging to Μαιονία, the designation originally of all of Lydia, later of a settlement at the upper Hermos River (Turkish Menye, recently replaced by the “unhistoric” name Gökçeören). The personal name occurs in the Christian inscription from Maionia in TAM V 1, 582, spelled Μεονίου (genitive). No (Flavius) Maionios is registered in the PLRE.

3 For the title μεγαλοπρεπέστατος, see R. Delmaire, Byzantion 54 (1984), pp. 157–61.
