4–5 These lines contained a procurator’s career in ascending order; Clauss refers to the comparable career of Septimius Marianus, given in descending order in CIL VI 1630 (= H. G. Pflaum, Les carrières procuratoriennes… II [1960], pp. 778–82, no. 300).
