- Description
- Wall fragment. Wing of a sphinx. Incision used for the wing outline and feathers. Curving wing bar has an overlay of purple paint. Interior black glazed. Dated in the second quarter of the sixth century, because of the purple on the wing and because there is only one line at one edge of the purple band, instead of the two which were characteristic of the first quarter. I am indebted to G. Bakır (personal communication) for these observations.
