    R. arm is against his side; l. arm is covered by the cloak which falls vertically in front and crosses diagonally to r. armpit in back. Musculature of chest and stomach is indicated in broad planes. R. hip is higher, thus weight is on r. leg.

    The workmanship appears to be of the 1st. C. A.D., but the type dates to the 4th C. B.C. The prototype for this piece would be a god such as Zeus, Poseidon, or Asklepios.

    Condition

    Marble.

    Naval to base of neck preserved. Incrustation from cement (reuse) on front.
