1 “Leontios, who is called θεοσεβής, was a pious Jew, not a gentile sympathizer.” Bonz “argues that Leontios was a prominent member of the Jewish Sardis community”; with reference to “the Jewish family (clan) of the Leontioi” (φυλῆς Λεοντίων), no. 495 (quotations from SEG 45); but see also Ameling’s commentary. 3 διάχωρον: “bay,” “a division of lateral wall, six to seven meters in width, that ran from pier to pier in the Main Hall” (Kroll, p. 12); cf. διαχώρημα no. 488, 6.
