2 The formula κρίσ(ε)ι δὲ, etc., apparently referring to an adoption by judgement, seems to be without parallel (Malay).
3–4 Malay points to Sardis VII 1, no. 93 (dated approximately in the early first century BC) where Alexarchos, son of Stratippos, is named as priest of Roma and as stephanephoros.
The inscription “seems to record some donations (to the temple of Artemis?) by some persons…who seem to have played an active role in the religious life at Sardis” (Malay). For the neopoiai, Malay refers to Sardis VII 1, no. 1, col. I, 2 and II, 6; M. Rostovtzeff, AnatStudRamsay, pp. 384–87; and P. Debord, Aspects sociaux, p. 260.
